È stato un weekend pasquale a dir poco intenso in casa Top Girls Fassa Bortolo, ma reso speciale dalle ragazze di Lucio Rigato che hanno dato spettacolo sulle strade di Italia e Francia.

Il trittico di gare in programma si è aperto sabato 16 aprile con la gara Open di Ponte a Egola, dove Iris Monticolo, Giorgia Bariani e Vanessa Michieletto hanno provato più volte a portare via la fuga senza però successo. Nella volata a ranghi compatti, infine, è stata Vanessa Michieletto a cogliere il settimo posto.

Nel giorno di Pasqua, sulle strade francesi del G.P. Chambery, è stata Cristina Tonetti a impressionare tutti quanti. La lombarda, al secondo anno nella categoria, ha dato il via al primo attacco di giornata dopo appena una decina di km e insieme alla cipriota Christoforou (Team Farto) è riuscita a guadagnare fino a 2’ sul gruppo principale. A farsi carico dell’inseguimento ci hanno pensato le ragazze della FDJ, con Brodie Chapman e Victorie Guilman che sono state le uniche due a riuscire a riportarsi sulla coppia al comando. Il quartetto di testa ha trovato subito l’accordo, cominciando a guadagnare nuovamente sul primo gruppo inseguitore. È stato però soltanto nel corso dell’ultimo dei 7 giri in programma che Tonetti ha dovuto arrendersi al tandem della FDJ, chiudendo al terzo posto e coronando così una gara epica. Greta Marturano ha chiuso, invece, al sesto posto.

La ciliegina sulla torta, infine, è arrivata nel giorno di Pasquetta con la vittoria solitaria di Alessia Vigilia nella Open di Monselice. Le ragazze della Top Girls sono state le vere dominatrici della prova, attaccando ad oltranza fin dai primi km. L’attacco decisivo è stato però quello della bolzanina, autrice di una cavalcata solitaria negli ultimi 10 km che l’ha portata a tagliare il traguardo a braccia alzate. A concludere una giornata che resterà a lungo nella memoria del team trevigiano, sono arrivati il secondo posto di Giorgia Bariani il sesto di Vanessa Michieletto e il decimo di Giorgia Vettorello.

“Quello che abbiamo vissuto in questi ultimi tre giorni – ha dichiarato un commosso Lucio Rigato – è incredibile. La squadra nell’ultimo mese è cresciuta giorno dopo giorno e in questo trittico di gare le ragazze hanno dimostrato tutto il loro valore. Dopo un inizio di stagione complicato in cui erano più le ragazze infortunate che quelle disponibili, siamo riusciti a riavere la squadra quasi al completo e questo ha fatto la differenza. La nostra forza è il gruppo e per noi è importante, quindi, poter lavorare con tutte le nostre atlete assieme. La squadra si è mossa ottimamente in tutte le gare a cui abbiamo partecipato, siamo orgogliosi di quello che ci ha dimostrato e un applauso va fatto a tutte le ragazze, nessuna esclusa. Cristina e Alessia sono arrivate da noi solamente quest’anno ma abbiamo fortemente creduto in loro fin dal primo giorno, quello che ci hanno fatto vedere dimostra che abbiamo fatto la scelta giusta. Sappiamo che la strada è ancora lunga, ma speriamo che questi risultati possano dare una spinta ulteriore al morale della squadra”.

TOP GIRLS – A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER: VIGLIA GETS A SOLO WIN, TONETTI OUTSTANDING IN CHAMBERY

It was an intense Easter weekend for Top Girls Fassa Bortolo, but made special by the girls of Lucio Rigato who put on a show on the streets of Italy and France.

The triptych of scheduled races opened on Saturday 16 April in Ponte a Egola, where Iris Monticolo, Giorgia Bariani and Vanessa Michieletto tried several times to make a breakaway without success. Finally, in the sprint with compact bunch, it was Vanessa Michieletto who took the seventh place.

On Easter day, on the French roads of the G.P. Chambery, it was Cristina Tonetti who impressed everyone. The Brianza girl launched the first attack of the day after about ten km and just the Cypriot Christoforou (Team Farto) was gaining up to 2 ‘on the main group. The FDJ girls took care of the chase, with Brodie Chapman and Victorie Guilman being the only two to be able to get back to the leading couple. The leading quartet immediately found an agreement, starting to gain again on the first chasing group. However, it was only during the last of the 7 laps scheduled that Tonetti had to surrender to the FDJ tandem, finishing in third place and thus crowning an epic race. Greta Marturano, on the other hand, finished in the sixth place.

Finally, the icing on the cake came on Easter second day with the solo win of Alessia Vigilia in Monselice. The riders of Top Girls were the real dominatrixes of the race, attacking to the bitter end from the first km. The decisive attack, however, was that of the girl from Bolzano, who made a solo ride in the last 10 km that brought her to the finish line with her arms raised. To conclude a day which will last a long time in the memory of the Treviso-based team, Giorgia Bariani got a second place, Vanessa Michieletto a sixth and Giorgia Vettorello a tenth.

“What we have experienced in these last three days – declared a touched Lucio Rigato – is incredible. In the last month the team has grown day by day and in this triptych of competitions the girls have shown all their value. After a complicated start to the season in which there were more girls standing at the boxes than those available, we were able to get the team back almost complete and this made the difference. Our strength is the group and it is therefore important for us to be able to work with all our athletes together. The team moved very well in all the races we participated in, we are proud of what it has shown us and a round of applause must be given to all the girls, none excluded. Cristina and Alessia came to us only this year but we strongly believed in them from the very first day, what they showed us demonstrated that we made the right choice. We know that there is still a long way to go, but we hope that these results can dare a further boost to the morale of the team ”.
